Fenna Zamouri (°1979, Antwerp, Belgium) completed a master in graphic design at Luca School of Arts (Sint-Lukas, Brussels) and specialized at the Plantin Institute for Typography (Antwerp).

In 2006 she immediately starts as a self-employed graphic designer whilst working full-time for Ad!dict, an innovation platform for designers & industry. In 2008 she accepts the position of Art Director in a communication design agency. All of this leading to start-up her self-owned one-woman company in 2010, the right decision as it turns out not even two years later. A professional milestone yet particularly a dream coming true, Fenna creates an Arabic digital font, in Dubai, with renowned type designers and calligraphers from the Middle East, a prestigious project led by Dr. Huda Smitshuijzen Abifarès. 

Fenna Zamouri is now wanted for her outstanding cross-cultural design on the intersection of the Western and the Arab world. Universal typography meets European poetry meets Arabic calligraphy, a hybrid mix with a contemporary twist, rooted in her Moroccan background. “Breaking borders is the invisible signature of my continuous fight for cultural and creative freedom, in my work as well in my life.”  

It’s undeniable that her participation to the CasablancaDesignWeek was meant to be. Fenna is looking forward to building bridges with local kindred spirits, cultural and corporate. She wants to investigate the added value of graphic design in human interaction as well in business opportunities. Because more than ever borders between economy and society should be broken too.
